Happy 8th Birthday to Little Bit!

Little Bit writes:

Today's my 8th purrthday, and my sister Smokey's as well!  Smokey lives with Mommy Erin and is celebrating with her today.  We were born in SE Portland to a sweet black kitty named Boo-Boo.  She and our cousin Starla (Boo-Boo's sister's kitten) belonged to neighbors two doors down from the house that my purrents lived in then.  Boo-Boo and Starla used to go over to eat with the ferals in their yard, so they brought us over as soon as we were able.  We had another littermate sister, Baby Chiba, but she got eaten by our people's puppy when she was a kitten.

My dad-cat is Spongebob, who lived with a neighbor across the street.  He's a huge Maine Coon!  No one knows for sure who Smokey's dad-cat is, and Baby Chiba's dad-cat was Outdoor Fluffy Buddy.  She looked like his "mini-me"!

Happy 7th Purrthday to Rori!

 Rori writes:

Yay, it's my birthday!  Happy 7th birthday to me, and to my brother, Knut, also!  He lives with a friend of Mommy's, but it's his birthday, too, because we were from the same litter.  We were born in a backyard in SE Portland, Oregon.  Our mom-cat was a feral named Rachel, and my dad-cat is a pet cat named Spongebob.  He's also Little Bit's dad-cat, but her mom-cat was named Boo-Boo Kitty and Little Bit's younger than I am.

Here's a picture of Auntie Tabby helping me learn about footstools, down, and up.  Wasn't I a cute kitten?  This was taken soon after I was caught and learned about inside and humans.  I was about 5 weeks old in this picture.

Here's a picture of Auntie Tabby snuggling with my brother, Knut.  He was named Neo at the time, because he's got color points on his ears and tail.  He's also got a spot on his face, and a pink spot on one ear.

This is a silly picture of my brother, all grown up.  He's pretending to be a jedi!

I'm going to celebrate my birthday by saying hi to Grandma and letting her pet me like I did yesterday.  I may even let Mommy brush my fur!

Happy Gotcha Day Anniversary to the Big Kitty of the House!

Rori writes:

Today's my Gotcha Day anniversary!  Five years ago, when my humans were living in the little house in Portland, I was just a baby kitten.  I was only four weeks old, and somehow my brother and I had gotten away from our mama.  Mommy Erin, who lived with Daddy and Mommy at the time, saw us running across the street from Spongebob's house to Dale's house.  Dale was the neighbor, and he had a lot of old tires in his yard.  My brother hid in one, and I hid in another.  Well, Mommy Erin and Mommy came over to find us!  My brother ran behind Dale's garage, but I was too scared.  I hid inside a tire!  I didn't know what to think of these tall beings coming towards me and making strange noises at me!  I peeked out at them, while they tried to convince me to come to their hands.  Finally, Mommy reached in and picked me out.  She handed me to Mommy Erin, and then took the following picture of me.  You can see how scared I was, but I also knew that I'd better hold on!
My mommies caught my brother, Knut, too.  The stinker walked right into a crate baited with tuna!  By that time, I was being cuddled by Daddy.  Knut was adopted by one of Mommy's co-workers, Tritia, a little over a week later.  I became Mommy Erin's kitten and stayed in her room at least half the time.  After she moved out and had JJ, Daddy and Mommy adopted me, but we celebrate my Gotcha Day as the day that Mommy Erin found me.

I'm proud to be a member of this family and furmily, and the Big Kitty (alpha cat) of the household!

Feral Friday by the Trailer Kitties

Food bowl rollcall:

Shadow, Spongebob, Orange-head kitty, Grey Kitty, Siamese from the next street over.

Shadow absolutely LOVES to be petted now! She asks to be petted every time she sees the lady, and she purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrsssss!!!!!!!!! Grey Kitty also likes being petted, but isn't as sure of it as Shadow.

The lady across the street in the house where Dot & Tux were born is taking care of Precious.

You may not hear from us ferals after a few more weeks, and we'll be sad. We're staying in the neighborhood, and are going to be ok. The people in the green house are moving, but we'll let them tell more about that. The lady across the street is going to take care of us and feed us.

Shadow may get to move with the green house people, but we're not sure yet. They need to try to find the other people who are feeding her and ask them first if they consider her to be their pet.

Feral Friday by the Trailer Kitties

Food bowl rollcall:

Precious, Shadow, Spongebob, Grey calico kitty.

Precious is really big now, and should have her kittens any day. We hope that she'll bring them by when they're old enough, and that we can catch them and tame them young.

The back porch light is still out, so we can't see every visitor who comes. We think the raccoons and possum have been by, but we're not sure.

Feral Friday by the Trailer Kitties

Food bowl rollcall:

Shadow, Spongebob, Siamese from the next street over, Precious

The porchlight has been out this week, so the humans can't see who comes when it's dark. Someone knocked over the bags of pop bottles on the porch, obviously climbing up to see in the window into the house. We're not telling who, but we're pointing paws at the more curious pet cats in the neighborhood!

Precious is pregnant! She looks like she has a couple more weeks to go. The humans hope that they can catch the kittens and possibly her as well once she lets them come to the bowl.

Feral Friday by the Trailer Kitties

Food bowl rollcall:

Shadow, Spongebob, big-head Tom kitty, Precious, Siamese cat from over the fence, Marble, raccoons.

Newsflash: Mama raccoon had three kits around the time Little Bit had her kittens, and she brought them last week! Mama raccoon was very watchful as her kits played around the porch, but it was broad daylight and they were all enjoying the sun. :) The baby raccoons are now about 13 or 14 weeks old, and probably about the size of a large cat.

Feral Friday by the Trailer Kitties

Food bowl rollcall:

Shadow, Spongebob, Marble, Chubby, Siamese cat, raccoon, Precious

Marble actually lounged on the porch yesterday, enjoying the warm weather and sunlight!

Feral Friday by the Trailer Kitties

Food bowl rollcall:

Shadow, Spongebob, Marble, Precious, a Siamese cat with a black collar who came from the back fence, possum, Chubby.

The lawn got mowed yesterday, and Shadow wanted to watch the whole process. She meowed at the back door to let the people know that something was going on, then went out to the front to watch from an already-mowed spot.

Feral Friday by the Trailer Kitties

Food bowl rollcall:

Shadow, Spongebob, possum, raccoon, (and we think Tux has been by, from how Carbon was acting).

Carbon told us someone interesting was out there, so we think Tux has been coming regularly as well. Shadow saw that we had all the kittens one time when the door was open, because two of them tried to run at her! She just kind of sniffed, and then the lady picked the kittens up and shut the door, opening it a few minutes later to put food out.

It's been really hot out, so there's a bowl of water as well.

Feral Friday by the Trailer Kitties

Food bowl rollcall:

Little Bit (before she came inside permanently), Boo-Boo Kitty (before she got dumped), Shadow, Spongebob, Chubby (the orange kitty), raccoon, Precious, Tom, Marble.

Tom actually belongs to a man on the street behind the green house. The lady found that out when she was talking with the neighbor about the kittens, because one of Boo-Boo's grey kittens went to him.

Of course, the big news is Little Bit, Boo-Boo, and all the kittens. See previous posts if you missed that!

It's getting to be only Shadow, Tux and the grey kitten that are true ferals; all the rest are friendly neighborhood cats or strays. We're still going to post them all for "Feral Friday", though.

Feral Friday by the Trailer Kitties (one day late)

Food bowl rollcall:

Little Bit, Boo-Boo Kitty, Shadow, Spongebob, Marble, Orange kitty (Chubby), Grey striped kitten, Tom (big-headed black kitty).

The man in the green house has named the abandoned orange kitty "Chubby", which is a strange name for a starving one, but it's because he looks like a cat the man had when he was growing up who had that name.

The neighbors with all the puppies, Little Bit, Boo-Boo, and the kittens have gotten an eviction notice personally delivered by the sheriff. There has been a moving truck outside their home now for two days. Let's hope and pray that they do something halfway responsible with the animals!

Because of all the commotion and the moving, Little Bit and Boo-Boo have been over at the green house most of the time, except we think Little Bit's been going back to feed her kittens.

Little Bit came in the green house last night and was being petted when the lady found a baby slug on her! It was only as big as the lady's thumbnail! She went around showing it to all the inside kitties, who sniffed and ignored it. So, big deal, there's a baby slug? The lady put it out on the porch so it could live outside.

Feral Friday by the Trailer Kitties

Food bowl rollcall:

Orange kitty, Little Bit, Boo-Boo Kitty, Spongebob, Shadow, Tux, grey striped kitten, raccoon, Precious.

Tux is back! Tux is back! Our Tuxie is finally back! We hadn't seen him or his brother since June of last year (when the above picture was taken), so we thought maybe they'd moved on or something had happened to them. But Tux is back! We saw him at the food bowl a couple nights ago: fast-moving black body with white feet. We couldn't get a positive i.d. then, because he moved too fast. The man saw him this morning, though, and it definitely was a bobbed tail on the cat that ran from the backyard to the house across the street.

The orange kitty from down the street is now homeless. His people moved and didn't take him. He let the lady pet him, and was meowing at her, happy. He's SO skinny; he was starving! We'll watch him and make sure he gets enough to eat when he comes by.

It was thunderstorming yesterday: a BIG storm warning and tornado watch (the watch went away, though)! It's been SO hot lately!

Feral Friday by the Trailer Kitties

Food bowl rollcall:

Little Bit, Shadow, Spongebob, Precious, grey striped kitten, Boo-Boo Kitty

The grey striped kitten has seen the lady looking at him through the window, and not run away! He was also investigating under the porch steps, and the lady could only see the bit of his tail and one leg as he dove under there. Then, he surfaced and was eating, but stopped to watch the lady and Tabby looking at him through the window. When Tabby jumped down, the kitten ran away under the trailer.

Boo-Boo Kitty is scaredy right now. We don't know why, but it took about five minutes of the man calling her to get her to come over for pets. Then she was shying away from the food bowl until the man went inside the house.

Feral Friday by the Trailer Kitties

Food bowl rollcall:

Shadow, Spongebob, Little Bit, black fluffy Carbon-lookalike, Black Tom Kitty, Orange-head Kitty, Orange kitty from down the street, Raccoon, Boo-Boo Kitty

Other than Little Bit's pregnancy, no kitty news this week. The dogs next door escaped, and the people spent over an hour searching for them, even driving up and down the streets calling for them. Somehow, the dogs were found.

Feral Friday by the Trailer Kitties

Food bowl rollcall:

Little Bit, Boo-Boo Kitty, Black Tom Kitty, Orange-head Kitty, Grey Striped Kitten, Marble, Shadow, SpongeBob

Marble is definitely a male. He was yowling and wandering around after Little Bit yesterday. No one has answered our ads or put up an ad about him, so either he was dumped or no one cares about losing him. So sad. We'll try to befriend him and bring him somewhere to check for a chip. He let the lady look out the window at him yesterday, but as soon as she opened the door he was out of there.

For those who were wondering, Marble's coloring is a classic marbled tabby pattern.

Feral Friday by the Trailer Kitties

Food bowl rollcall:

Precious, Little Bit, Boo-Boo Kitty, Shadow, Spongebob, Orange-head Kitty, Tom Kitty, a very handsome cat we're calling Marble.

Marble first showed up a week ago, but we didn't post a food bowl rollcall last week. We're pretty sure it's a he. He's tortoiseshell, but dappled brown & grey rather than the usual grey & black. He's pretty scaredy of the humans, but behaves more like a stray than a feral, which is good news.

Remember we thought Precious might be pregnant? Thankfully we were wrong. She's still not letting anyone get close, and Little Bit runs her off if they're both out there at the same time.

Feral Friday by the Trailer Kitties

Food bowl rollcall:

Tom, Orange-head Kitty, Shadow, Spongebob, Little Bit, Boo-Boo Kitty, Outdoor Fluffy Buddy.

It's raining today, so the people can see our pawprints on the porch. We've had a few really warm days for the season (up to 78 F). Not quite sunning weather, but almost. Pretty soon, we'll be laying out on the porch and in the grass, getting some rays.

Feral Friday by the Trailer Kitties

Food bowl rollcall:

Little Bit, Boo-Boo Kitty, Outdoor Fluffy Buddy, Shadow, Spongebob, Orange-head Kitty, Tom Kitty, baby possum, raccoon.

Our big surprise this week was the return of baby possum. You can read our post from Tuesday about that. The lady also observed Tom Kitty licking Orange-head Kitty's ear while OHK was screaming about it (both unfixed males)!

The lady sold 20 pins this week: 10 of Baby Chiba and 10 of Shadow.
