Goodbye & Hello

Trailer Kitties write:

Our trailer's gone! The people in the green house left, took all their stuff, and took the trailer! There's just a bare patch of brown grass where it was. We can still go into the basement to hide and be dry, but it's not as convenient as the trailer was.

The lady and the man said they'd miss us all, but they were moving to a bigger house in a different place. We'll really miss them, and our daily two bowls of food.

Love, forever,

Grey Kitty, Tux, Dot, Outdoor Fluffy Buddy, the siamese from the next street over, Spongebob (neighbor's pet cat/welcoming committee), and all the rest.

Shadow writes:

The people in the green house haven't been around in a while. They don't come home anymore. Spongebob's dad, George, said they left a note with him that they really wanted to have me come live with them, but they would have to trap me to do that. They asked him to help them trap me. He hasn't called them back about it.

The lady who types my diary for me is the lady from the green house. I'll let her tell what's going to happen next.

Karen here:
We're going to let Shadow stay with Sponge & George, because she's happy there and she and Sponge are best buds. George will feed her and take care of her the best he can, and hopefully she'll learn to trust him more. Scott's going to go over and talk with him one of these next weeks and explain what techniques we were using to get her to trust us more, and so hopefully those will work for him as well.

It breaks my heart to give her up, just as it breaks my heart to give up the rest of the Trailer Kitties, but it's best for them to stay where they are. We'll never forget you!!!

Love,

Mommy/the lady who lived in the green house.

I'm at my new forever home! No, I didn't go somewhere else. I got to stay right here with my foster family, who are now my REAL family! Mommy and Daddy had a serious talk tonight, and they told me that my new last name is the same as theirs now. Yay!

Happy snuggles,

Spooky T.

Very, very, VERY thankful Thursday!!!

Mommy writes:

Yesterday morning, Carbon woke us up talking very loudly and for a long time, which he never does! We had no idea what he wanted us to know, but it was outside because he kept on looking at the door and sniffing it like someone was out there. His daddy opened the door, but there didn't seem to be anyone out there or on the street. We finally just had to tell him we didn't know what he wanted and went back to sleep, ignoring his continued meows.

At about 4:15 pm, the lady who owns the dog & puppies, Boo-Boo, and Little Bit came over and asked to see me (my husband had answered the door). She was holding these two adorable kittens:

Michelle (formerly Michael)

Baby Boo-Boo, nicknamed Boo

They are Boo-Boo's kittens! We had no idea Boo-Boo had been pregnant, but we hadn't seen her for a bit until about a week ago. Now we know why. These adorable girls are between 7 and 8 weeks old.

The lady said that she and her husband were given an eviction notice (which is what we had guessed), and had to move to a place where they didn't allow any pets (Thank you, GOD!!!!!). They had packed up these two girls, Boo-Boo, Little Bit, and Little Bit's four kittens (yes, they survived!), and tried to take them to the humane society. The humane society said they would have to euthanize them if they took them, so the people decided not to do that.

They then drove to Troutdale to the pound, which told them the same thing. They drove a few blocks away and dumped Boo-Boo! Then they went to Wendy's near where we live, and went through the drive-through. The man rolled down the back window, and they thought Little Bit jumped out the window, so now they had all the kittens but no mommas!

That's when they decided to come over and ask me for help. At this point, my husband had to go inside because he wanted to slap the lady (he never would, but that's why he went inside). I was so angry, if it weren't for the kittens I would've ordered her off our property. I took the two black kittens and gave them to my husband, and asked them to bring over the four in the box.

When the man went to take the box of kittens out of the van, he found Little Bit in there! She had just climbed in the far back, not escaped. So, I went over there to get her, because she was so scared of them at the moment, but she ran and the man was able to catch her.

So, we now are fostering two 8-week-old black girls (Boo-Boo's kittens), Little Bit (just over a year old), and four 3-week-old kittens (three girls and one tabby boy).

Anyone want a kitten?

Little Bit with her kittens

The middle one of the three on the left is the boy, and the rest are girls. Looks like two are tabbies (the boy and the one on the right), one is mostly black, and one is grey with white paws and faint tabby markings.

Feral Friday by the Trailer Kitties (one day late)

Food bowl rollcall:

Little Bit, Boo-Boo Kitty, Shadow, Spongebob, Marble, Orange kitty (Chubby), Grey striped kitten, Tom (big-headed black kitty).

The man in the green house has named the abandoned orange kitty "Chubby", which is a strange name for a starving one, but it's because he looks like a cat the man had when he was growing up who had that name.

The neighbors with all the puppies, Little Bit, Boo-Boo, and the kittens have gotten an eviction notice personally delivered by the sheriff. There has been a moving truck outside their home now for two days. Let's hope and pray that they do something halfway responsible with the animals!

Because of all the commotion and the moving, Little Bit and Boo-Boo have been over at the green house most of the time, except we think Little Bit's been going back to feed her kittens.

Little Bit came in the green house last night and was being petted when the lady found a baby slug on her! It was only as big as the lady's thumbnail! She went around showing it to all the inside kitties, who sniffed and ignored it. So, big deal, there's a baby slug? The lady put it out on the porch so it could live outside.

Feral Friday by the Trailer Kitties

Food bowl rollcall:

Shadow, Spongebob, Little Bit, black fluffy Carbon-lookalike, Black Tom Kitty, Orange-head Kitty, Orange kitty from down the street, Raccoon, Boo-Boo Kitty

Other than Little Bit's pregnancy, no kitty news this week. The dogs next door escaped, and the people spent over an hour searching for them, even driving up and down the streets calling for them. Somehow, the dogs were found.

NOT easy!

Starla writes:

The people who WERE my people were fighting. I could hear their voices, and jumped up into the window to see if they were coming to get me. I couldn't see them, but I could still hear them. My new mommy and daddy looked out the front windows, and they could see the people. Then the people quieted down and went back into the house next door and the one next to that. Mommy and Daddy picked me out of the window, where I was cowering, and petted me and told me that I was safe here with them. They said the other people whose voices I knew would not hurt me any more, and that I am loved and cared for and safe here. I calmed down and sat with Mommy and Daddy.

Then, a few hours later, we all heard a loud sound and then my former man person shouted and cried, "Oh my God, oh my God, no!" He repeated that, went out to a white van, then the van pulled away and the man went into the house, still crying and shouting. Daddy called 911, and while he was on the phone Mommy watched through the window. A lady came out of the house and went over to my old house, and went inside there. I was very scared, and jumped up in our window, which is in the opposite direction. Daddy told the 911 operator what we'd just seen and heard.

The police came and drove past. Two police cars. They didn't go up to the house next door or my former house, and didn't come here to ask Mommy or Daddy any questions. Mommy and Daddy wonder why they didn't at least go up to the neighbors' doors and knock to find out what happened.

Mommy and Daddy brought me down from the window again and petted me to calm me down. Mommy took me in to the bathroom to see if I needed to go potty. I didn't need to, but I needed my ears cleaned, so I scratched them then looked at her. She cleaned my ears, and then opened the door again so I could go back out. She picked me up so I didn't need to "run the gauntlet" of the other kitties, because I'm still kind of scared of them. They chase me still.

Rori came up on the couch to see if I was alright, and she and I touched noses. She also came to check on me throughout the loud shouting and everything next door. She wanted to be sure I was alright. Mommy and Daddy told her she was being a very good big kitty for doing that. I settled down again, and snuggled right up against Mommy on the couch while she and Daddy petted me. I lay with them for about an hour, until Skylar tried to sit on my head! He was trying to sit on Mommy's lap, but he didn't know where his seat was going to end up! So I jumped down and lay down on my basket. It didn't really bother me, because I knew he didn't do it on purpose.

Little Bit had a big adventure!

Wow! I am NEVER doing THAT again! There were people working on a house down the street, putting new siding on it, and I thought I'd go over and say hi, maybe get a few of them to pet me and pay attention to me. They had the door to a big building open, so I followed them in. THEY LOCKED ME INSIDE and left! I guess they didn't see little me walk in behind them. I was in there for two days BY MYSELF! I screamed and screamed, but no one came and got me. I was very scared, and I climbed all over and got into things trying to find a way out. I had thought it was a house, but no house would be that dark or not have people in it!

Then, finally, I heard a voice that I recognized. It was the man from the green house, the one where my sister now lives as a foster kitten. I got excited and screamed very loudly. He and another man opened the door and called to me. I yelled back. The man that I knew meowed back to me, so we talked for a few minutes. I finally stepped out where he could see me. He called me by name, so I came over to him, and he scooped me up and carried me into his yard and house. I purred and purred! They had been hearing me scream, but the person who owned the "shop" (huge shed/garage) where I was trapped hadn't heard me. So the man had gone over to see if he could open the door and find whoever it was who was trapped. And they found ME and got me OUT OF THERE!

I went into the green house and told my sister Smokey about my adventure, then spent a long time eating. I was STARVED! I screamed for a bit, but the lady and the man petted me and talked to me, telling me that I was ok now. Then they let me back out into the yard. I was last seen running back home, probably to tell my momma all about my adventure too.

Window Watching

Carbon writes:

It's been an exciting day today! For the last few days, there have been people working on the house next door, right in front of our living room window! I sat in the window all day today and watched them. They're putting new siding on the house and making all sorts of noise, with ladders and pails and other interesting things around. I hop down to eat, drink, and use the litter box, but then it's right back up into the window to watch again!
