Fundraising Update

Tabby writes:

Thank you to Parker for donating to the Cat Adoption Team! Whoo-hoo, now there's $22 dollars raised, and Mommy heard that two of her friends around home are going to send in checks as well, so it's really even more than that. :) :) :)

If you would like to donate, the link is in our sidebar under my "Go Team Tabby" picture. Every dollar goes to fund spay/neuter programs, medical programs, shelter kitties through a private nonprofit, and foster homes through the CAT shelter. It is a no-kill shelter in Portland, Oregon, and they have a good rate of adoption.

Thanks,

Tabby.

  2. Believe it or not, I found out about your blog because I saw your post on hrgottlieb's blog. I have to say, I agree with you. I didn't realize at first that it was just a solicitation.

Your blog is really great. I love the cat pictures. I'm trying to raise money, too, for our nonprofit application. I was curious to know how you have set up your Photobucket fundraiser. I set one up on fundable.com, but it hasn't been overly successful, yet. I like the fact that yours has a widget you can put on your blog.

    Thanks for your help.

  3. Thank you, Dr. Schroth! We didn't set it up, but we agree it's a great way to do fundraising. The picture is the only thing that's hosted on Photobucket; the actual fundraiser is hosted on FirstGiving. That site is at http://www.firstgiving.com/ and it is easily accessible by clicking on the "donate" button, which takes you to my personal page on the site. Each person's page tells which charity they are raising funds for, how much they've raised, any comments people have made when they donated, and a link to the charity's page. The site hosts do take a small percent of the donations as their fee, but this is the norm with sites like this. Their fee plus the credit card fee comes to 7.5%, so 7 cents/dollar. Not bad at all, considering what you get out of it. You can choose between a variety of widgets, and each person gets to choose the widget they want. People who donate can also choose a widget to put on their page, helping through "viral" promotion of the fundraiser.

  4. That sounds great. I will definitely look into it. I will also put it on our web site and blog, as an alternate means of fundraising for pet owners. Thank you for your information.
