Learning that laps are ok

Starla writes:

My new daddy just picked me up and put me on his lap for pets. I wanted to get off, but he gently held me there and petted me, talking to me the whole time. I settled down to a crouch and accepted pets, but gingerly, getting ready to run at any minute. I really didn't know what he was trying to do, because I've never sat on a lap for petting before. It was all very confusing.

Laps are wonderful things. You don't know what you're missing out on!

Starla, I can relate. It took 2 years for me to walk onto Mommy's lap to let her pet me and almost 3 years before I would let her pick me up without me throwing a fit! I have always liked sleeping with them, maybe because they are less intimidating in their "laid down" position. I was a big 'fraidy cat when I was first adopted. You will get used to the pettings; they are nice!

Starla, I am not much of a lap cat myself. When I first moved in, I wasn't that keen at all. Now, I still prefer to do it on my own terms. But when I'm in the mood for a cuddle, I go all out.

Rori, your baby photo is just too sweet for words:)

I am not much of a lap kittie either. I sit on mum's lap, but won't lay there. I usually get treats then. But mum never pushed me to sit on her lap, she waited until I did it on my own.
